Spreadsheets

We learned about spreadsheets today. I think it would be really beneficial to use the googledocs spreadsheet to create a survey that parents could fill out. This could help the parents of my students feel that they are more involved and have a say in what goes on in the classroom. I am really excited about the survey function! Also, excel makes graphing and finding totals simple once you know how to use it. I really enjoy using excel!

Hey guys! You know how much I love pirates, but now I want to know what you like and why. I would love to hear your answers!

Today we learned about google docs. So cool! Now I don't have to panic when I forget my thumb drive. It makes me feel a little less stressed about stuff. It brought quite a laugh to share documents and add to each others documents. I also really enjoyed putting borders on my word documents.

I would use google docs as more of a parent connection. For example, if I was making a class calendar, I could upload it on google docs, and if there was anything I forgot, parents could add to it or post a comment underneath the calendar. It would also be an easy way to get parent permission. Parents would just have to write their name and click send instead of searching their child's backpack for a little piece of paper.

Copyright

It has been really interesting to learn about copyrights today. I almost feel like I am now more confused in some aspects. It is pretty complicated stuff. Haha. I liked being able to discuss the case studies. Mostly, I learned that you need to be really careful when using others work. I appreciate copyright laws because they protect everything I paint and every story or song I write. GO COPYRIGHT!

YETC

Today we went to the YETC lab and learned A LOT! It was a great experience. The school offers us a lot of resources for teaching. It was incredible to see the different sites and resources that the lab has and makes available to us. I was so excited about the reading rainbow videos and am planning on copying them to a portable hard drive. I also loved the spellingcity.com sight and the storyonline.net sight. They were really fun. I already spend a lot of time in the mac lab doing homework so I love the YETC already.
